FLOREZ EMBRACES UNIQUE IDENTITY STILL-UNSIGNED BAND FLOREZ GAINS SIGNIFICANT MOMENTUM (NASHVILLE, Tenn.) December 6, 2007 – Fresh off a summer hiatus and a whirlwind fall tour, inventive rock outfit FLOREZ has made a welcomed return to the studio. The band has just recorded an acoustic EP with four new songs to whet the appetites of eager fans. The band took a significant break this summer as Erik Huffman (vocals, bass guitar) competed on the CBS reality show “Survivor: China.” Although the interruption disappointed fans craving live performances, the experience raised the band’s ever-augmenting profile. And while Erik didn’t walk away a millionaire, he recruited a devoted base of Survivor enthusiasts to the FLOREZ fan club. The music of FLOREZ is a tasty blend of groove-driven rock and roll and radio-ready pop melodies that stands out in any venue. The band currently hails from Nashville, TN, a place where they stand out because their sound is absolutely distinct amongst other rock acts in Music City. Listening to FLOREZ, you will hear echoes of the raw guitar playing of Jimi Hendrix, the impassioned delivery of Matchbox 20, the soul influences of Maroon 5, and the memorable anthems of Weezer. FLOREZ engages crowds with its energy and enthusiasm so that by show’s end, there always seems to be a room full of new fans. After releasing two independent studio albums (Find Yourself, 2003 and In Flight, 2005) plus a more recent acoustic album (The Brooker Sessions, 2006), the band discovered that its journey had only just begun. Having performed with the likes of Gavin DeGraw, Josh Kelley, Better than Ezra and Blues Traveler, FLOREZ is tight and professional. With an enormous catalogue of songs under its belt, FLOREZ continues to record new material. In 2006, a co-publishing deal placed the song “Natalie” on NBC’s hit series “Scrubs.” Even with success on the horizon, FLOREZ knew to keep its focus grounded and work at a balanced and perpetual pace. They returned to the studio this fall with songs that reminded them of their original identity. “We used to think our diversity was our strength. But instead of trying to be good at several styles of music, we decided to take time to cultivate our own signature sound and be great at that,” says lead singer, guitarist and band namesake Alex Florez. “In order to maintain that identity, we knew we needed to make a slow and steady climb toward our goal.” As one Richmond newspaper put it, “FLOREZ is the type of band you encounter on the local level that makes you wonder not if they’ll break big, but when.” FLOREZ consists of Alex Florez (lead vocals, lead guitar) and Erik Huffman (vocals, bass guitar).
